Dedicated to Paediatric Neurosurgery and specifically to Functional Paediatric Neurosurgery at the Hospital Sant Joan de Deu of Barcelona, with great interest in robotic neurosurgery and the application of new technologies for the treatment of epilepsy and movement disorders in children, fields in which he is an international referent.
Dr Candela Cantó is a recognized specialist in Pediatric Neurosurgery who has an excellent reputation in the surgical treatment of epilepsy in children. After graduating in Medicine and Surgery from the University of Barcelona, he specialized in Pediatric Neurosurgery. He has specialized in surgery for epilepsy and movement disorders. He received his doctorate from the University of Barcelona with the thesis “Functional Pediatric Neurosurgery assisted by the Neuromate Robotic Arm with Cum Laude qualification”. He is also a recognized expert in the treatment of spina bifida, craniosynostosis, chiari malformation and neuroendoscopy.
After his training at Hospital Clínic, Dr. Candela has focused his care activity at Hospital Sant Joan de Déu in Barcelona, combining it with international training at the Center Hospitalier Universitarire in Grenoble (France), Evangelical Hospital Bethel in Bielefeld (Germany), Kaiser Permanente in Oakland, California, and Hospedale dei Bambini Vittore Buzzi in Milan and Bambino Gesù in Rome, Italy. He attends to his private patients at the Institut Pediàtric Sant Joan de Déu, Clínica Corachan and Paido-Dex (Hospital Dexeus) and pediatric neurosurgical care at Hospital de Barcelona. In addition, he is an active member of the most important medical societies in his specialty, such as the Spanish Society of Neurosurgery (SENEC), the Spanish Society of Pediatric Neurosurgery (SENEP) and the European Society for Stereotactic and Functional Neurosurgery (ESSFN).
